ANALYSIS OF GENDER DIFFERENCES IN THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PATIENTS WITH NON-DIALYSIS CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE
Abstract
Background; Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem with an increasing prevalence. Gender differences play a role in the clinical characteristics and lifestyle of CKD patients, but evidence in non-dialysis CKD patients is still limited. This study aims to analyze gender differences in the characteristics of patiets with non-dialysis CKD.
Method; This study is a descriptive analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 165 non-dialysis CKD patients selected using convenience sampling. The research instruments were demographic questionnaires, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and the Modified Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Clinical and laboratory data were obtained from medical records for the past month. All data were analyzed using SPSS with univariate tests.
Result; The majority of respondents were male (67.3%). Most respondents were in the adult and elderly age groups. The majority of respondents had a normal body mass index, unhealthy eating patterns, and low physical activity levels. Most respondents had one comorbid condition. In terms of clinical parameters, the majority of respondents were in the blood pressure category of ?140/?90 mmHg, had normal blood sugar levels, low hemoglobin levels, and a glomerular filtration rate of 30–59 mL/minute/1.73 m², with a predominance of male respondents.
Conclusion; The majority of non-dialysis CKD patients are male and exhibit poor clinical characteristics and lifestyle habits. These findings emphasize the importance of a gender-based approach in the management of non-dialysis CKD
